Fire Prevention Week October 9-15

RM of Hanover Fire Department

The Fire Department is committed to providing the highest level of fire protection services to our residents. Our department consists of 72 paid-on call firefighters in four fire stations located at:

Grunthal - 339 Main Street
Kleefeld - 21 Main Street
New Bothwell - 11 Main Street
Blumenort - 80 Penner Drive S

Each of the fire stations are under the command of a district chief,  one deputy chief, two captains and 13-15 firefighters. We respond to approximately 260 calls annually including structure fires, grass/brush fires, motor vehicle collisions, vehicle fires, farm accidents, alarm calls, and more.

The Fire Department operates under the direction of a municipal fire chief who oversees all operations and administration including responses, budgeting, training, inspections, fire prevention, planning and purchasing. We also have a fire prevention officer who delivers public education programs throughout the municipality. All firefighters train under the direction of the Hanover Training Officer, working with six certified instructors.

The Fire Department operates with 13 fire apparatus including four pumper/engines, four tanker/tenders, four rescues, one mini pumper/brush truck, four ATV/UTVs and three utility pick up trucks.

Fire Bans

When conditions merit, the RM of Hanover will issue fire prevention bans for the municipality. Fire bans will be posted on the RM of Hanover website, social media channels, and shared on local media. Residents are asked to adhere to all fire bans issued to ensure the safety of people and property.

Fire Pits

Residents should only use acceptable fire pits when having an open fire. Fire pits must be enclosed on all sides, made of non-combustible material, and be a minimum of 12" in height or depth. The surrounding ground area should also be maintained and kept free of combustibles that could contribute to fire spread.
